Keep up a steady routine of Bible reading, prayer,

Samuel understood that panic often disguised itself as urgency. He refused to let the home become ruled by rumor.

Each day had structure now. Bible reading in the morning when possible. Prayer that was specific, not vague. Family conversations in which Nathan could ask questions and receive honest, calm answers. Cooperation with congregation direction without inventing extra rules of their own.

Sasha seemed steadier when there was order. Nathan seemed braver when seriousness was wrapped in warmth instead of secrecy.

One evening after a family study, Nathan asked, “If bad men come, do we hide?”

Samuel thought carefully. “We obey direction,” he said. “And whatever happens, we do not stop belonging to Jehovah.”
